Module 3: Online Safety through the Lens of Language

Module Overview:
In this module, we will continue developing our holistic approach to online safety by focusing on the lens of language. To do this, we will start by creating an analogy that will help us learn how to analyse language. Then, we will apply this knowledge of language analysis to an example of an online scam in order to demonstrate how language can help us spot potential dangers online.
The following provides an outline of the topics that are covered in this module:

- Language Clues: Using Language to Spot Online Scams
Each topic is addressed in the form of an article. For each article, there is also an accompanying infographic which summarises the key points that have been covered.
Module Learning Objectives:
In this module, we will aim to:
- Develop our holistic approach to online safety by focusing on the lens of language;
- Design a method for analysing the language of online communication; and
- Demonstrate how language analysis can help us identify and interpret online scams.
